Youtube offering subscriptions to creators - CTOdaily 25/6/18

YouTube Is Offering a Talent Option to Sell Subscriptions - Bloomberg

The video-streaming giant will content creators with more than 100,000 subscribers to sell memberships to their fans which could give them access to exclusive content and things like custom emojis and merchandise.

The video-streaming service Twitch.tv, owned by Amazon, has a number of users who make more money from selling subscriptions than advertising.

This is a good move for Google as up to 90% of their revenue comes from advertising, so diversifying in this way is practical reflects the general digital media consumption trends.
